Tawas Athletic Director Steps Down

TAWAS, Mich.— The Tawas Braves will have a new athletic director as former a.d. Matt Unke announced resignation Wednesday. This comes after his recommendation to cancel fall sports was denied. Earlier this week Unke made a recommendation to the school board to cancel fall sports besides cross country. On Wednesday the board decided to go ahead with all fall sports. At that point, Unke stepped down saying in part “I can not, in good conscience, be the person who is responsible for facilitating large gatherings at this time”.

Tawas has since named former athletic director Lynn Kosto as the district’s interim a.d. Kosto last served that role in 2015, before retiring from the district after many years as a teacher and administrator. Klinger added that the school hopes to have a permanent hire soon.
