Sunrise Suds takes over downtown

ALPENA, Mich. — Overcast skies didn’t stop Alpena from having a good time on Saturday.

People enjoyed games, live music, and above all, beer, during the grand return of the Sunrise Suds Tap Takeover.

The event, hosted by the Fresh Palate, had to take a pandemic hiatus in 2020.

Owner Eric Peterson said he really appreciates the crowd’s enthusiasm.

“Thank you so much for bringing this back to Alpena so we can all get out and have a good time. I appreciate the community supporting it.”

Guests enjoyed more than 20 craft beers from around the state.

One woman told us about the drink she liked the most: an Ore Dock Blonde from Marquette.

“It’s just a light fruity flavor. It’s really refreshing.”

Peterson said he thinks the pandemic lowered this year’s attendance.

However, he says he has high hopes for 20–22.
