Sunny Start to Summer; Damp Weekend Ahead

It was a warm last day of spring, high temperatures reached the lower 80s in Alpena and mid-70s at the shoreline.

Mostly clear skies are spreading across the Great Lakes region, and the sunshine will continue tomorrow. A low pressure system over Iowa is currently producing a line of thunderstorms in Iowa and Missouri along a cold front. This low pressure system will track through Illinois and Indiana before moving through southeastern Michigan this weekend. No severe weather is expected here, but this system will bring showers on Saturday.

It will be a cool start to summer which starts at 6:07 a.m. tomorrow. Sunshine will brighten the sky all day long, though the high temperature will only reach the lower 70s.

Dry weather will continue into Friday, then the chance of rain will start to increase in the predawn hours early on Saturday. The chance of rain will be highest Saturday during the morning and afternoon, and then lower Saturday evening. Sunday should be dry though cloudy.

Clouds will increase Friday and high temperatures are forecast to reach the mid-70s. The low pressure system currently over Iowa will track over southeastern Michigan, bringing showers and cooler temperatures on Saturday, highs will only get into the upper 60s. At least the second half of the weekend will be dry as high temperatures rebound into the 70s.
