Summer to the south, fall to the north, teetering between the seasons locally

High temperatures today reached a summer-like 82 degrees in Grand Rapids, Mich., a fall-like 70 degrees in Houghton, Mich., and 76 degrees in Alpena. A breeze from the northwest will bring colder temperatures into our area Tuesday.

High temperatures Tuesday afternoon will only get up to 70 degrees. Wednesday, highs will reach the middle 70s. Winds will shift out of the southwest Thursday which will bring in warmer temperatures. Highs will warm to the lower 80s Thursday and middle 80s Friday.

Tuesday: Increasing clouds, mostly cloudy in the afternoon. Early-morning temperatures will be in the middle 50s. Temperatures will rise to the middle 60s around 10 a.m. Afternoon highs will reach only about 70 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be in the middle 60s.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy and cool in the morning. Predawn temperatures will start in the upper 40s. Late-morning temperatures will be in the middle 60s. Afternoon highs will get close to 74 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be in the middle 60s.

Thursday: Scattered showers in the morning-afternoon. Early-morning lows will be in the upper 50s. Late-morning temperatures will rise to the upper 60s. Afternoon highs will reach close to 81 degrees. Early-morning temperatures will be in the middle/upper 70s.
