Summer-like heat arrives midweek

High temperatures today reached 70 degrees in Alpena and 75 degrees in Grand Rapids. Notice the heat off to the west, Minneapolis got up to 87 degrees. That heat is heading in our direction for the middle of the week.

Overnight lows will be heading down to the middle 40s with mainly clear skies. Warmer temperatures will start to move in Tuesday. Morning temperatures will be in the 50s. Afternoon highs will warm to about 80 degrees in Alpena, 82 degrees in Mio, and a touch cooler at the shoreline with a high of 76 degrees in Oscoda.

Temperatures will get even warmer Wednesday, reaching the middle 80s. Afternoon highs will heat into the upper 80s Thursday and Friday, and by Friday we will feel increasing humidity as well. A cold front will move through Saturday producing a chance of showers/thunderstorms and bringing the temperatures down slightly, highs will be in the lower 80s.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny. Predawn temperatures will be in the middle 40s, then rising to the upper 60s by 10 a.m. Afternoon highs will be around 80 degrees, then temperatures will gradually cool to the upper 50s by the late-evening.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny and warmer. Predawn temperatures will be in the lower 50s. By 10 a.m., temperatures will warm to the middle 70s. Afternoon highs will reach about 86 degrees. Evening temperatures will cool to the 70s … and 60s by the late-evening.

Thursday: Even hotter. After daybreak, morning temperatures will be in the 60s and 70s. Afternoon highs will soar to the upper 80s. Evening temperatures will be mainly in the 70s, cooling to the middle 60s in the late-evening.
