ALPENA, Mich.— As the early morning bell rang, foot traffic was lower compared to previous semesters at thunder bay junior high. Prior to the first day, students were split up into two different cohorts and are scheduled to arrive to school on alternate days of the week.
Each middle schooler is required to wear a face covering while inside the building. Students were not given a locker this year in an effort to limit activity in the hallway.
Social distancing at least six feet is required in the classroom and the cafeteria. Students will still have recess time and a chance to take off their mask while outside.
Starting next week, students assigned to green cohort will attend classes Mondays and Thursdays. Students in the white cohort will attend on Tuesdays and Fridays leaving Wednesdays as an online day with the teacher.
