Alpena County, Mich. — An Alpena County road is officially open after six weeks of construction.
Cars and trucks can cruise down a freshly paved Herron Rd. 1.08 miles of the road, north of M–32, underwent a major face lift. Workers had to raise the road bed 2 feet. They also constructed culverts for proper drainage.
The project work started in April. It costed $510,000 and was paid for by a High Risk Rural Roads Safety Grant in addition to road commission funding.
Team Elmer’s of Hillman was selected as the contractor for the project.
