State of Michigan offers resources about auto insurance laws ahead of July 1 changes

ALPENA, Mich. — Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed legislation last summer that will lower auto insurance rates and increase driver protections in the State of Michigan. Now, the Department of Insurance and Financial Services has developed resources to help Michigan drivers navigate the new laws.
The department has launched a new website, created consumer guides, and even added a hotline and email address for drivers to ask questions and file complaints. The website will outline changes that will begin on July 1 of this year, as well as coverage options and shopping tips. Some major changes drivers can expect to see include personal injury protection options, fee schedules, catastrophic claims and more.

If you’d like to check out the website and start navigating new insurance laws and changes, visit michigan.gov/auto insurance, or call (833)ASK-DIFS.
