Splendid weekend; Next rain chance arrives late Monday

High temperatures today warmed into the mid-80s across most of Northeast Michigan. At the shoreline, high temperatures were just a few degrees cooler of a light breeze out of the northeast.

A weak storm system will continue to stay to our south. Besides the showers over southern Michigan, there are plenty of clear skies across the Upper Peninsula and much of the Upper Midwest. The clear weather will hover over our area through the weekend.

Plenty of dry weather is forecast to last through Sunday. After that, the chance of rain climbs late Monday, lasting through much of Tuesday.

Over the weekend, wonderfully bright skies will cooperate with any plans to go to the beach. High temperatures at the shoreline will be a few degrees cooler than spots inland, reaching the middle and upper 70s. With all the bright skies Saturday and Sunday, definitely remember to apply a lot of sunscreen if you are planning to spend time outdoors.

On Saturday, partly cloudy skies are forecast in the afternoon as high temperatures warm to around 80 degrees. Even more sunshine is expected Sunday with warmer temperatures, reaching the mid-80s away from the immediate shoreline. Although Monday will start with dry weather, by late in the day the chance of rain will increase.
