Social square dancing in Presque Isle

ALPENA, Mich. — Grab your partner, swing ’em ’round, Presque Isle Harbor’s where the dancin’s found.

Tom Kaiser, a long–time square dance caller, is vacationing in northeast Michigan this summer. He teamed up with the Presque Isle Harbor Association to bring square dancing lessons to the region.

Kaiser told WBKB newcomers don’t have to be afraid of having two left feet.

“We’ll just make it fun and we’ll start from square one. [We’ll] teach people the different elements of social square dancing. And then each week, [we’ll] add on a little bit as we go.”

Normally, programs at the harbor association are only open to members, but this one’s open to everybody.

Classes start this Tuesday, June 15, and run weekly from 6:45 to 9:00 PM.

Non–members pay a five–dollar admission fee.
