Snow and milder temperatures moving in Tuesday

High temperatures today reached only the middle teens with sunny skies from the late-morning through the afternoon and a light breeze out of the northwest about 5 mph. Winds will increase out of the south tomorrow, helping to bring in warmer temperatures.

Cloud cover from the west will move in tonight. An initial band of snow currently over Minnesota will bring a chance of a few snow showers tomorrow morning. Then, a break of dry weather is expected midday-early afternoon. Widespread snow currently over the Upper Plains will move in tomorrow late-afternoon or early evening, lasting through early Wednesday.


Overnight low temperatures will drop to around 0 degrees with increasing cloud cover. Tomorrow will start with cold temperatures around 10 degrees and wind chill values close to -5. Winds out of the south about 15 mph will provide warmer temperatures, reaching the mid-20s in the afternoon, as steady snow arrives in our area.

The steadiest snow tomorrow will arrive late-day, lasting into Wednesday morning. A chance of lighter snow showers will persist until the early afternoon on Wednesday. For most of Northeast Michigan, 4-6 inches of snow are likely, except lower amounts for Iosco County and parts of Ogemaw County. Dry weather will move in Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. A cold front dropping out of central Canada will bring a chance of light snow showers Thursday afternoon-Thursday night.

Steady snow will move in tomorrow, accumulating up to a few inches between tomorrow afternoon and Wednesday morning. Highs will warm into the mid-20s tomorrow. Even warmer temperatures will arrive Wednesday, reaching the lower 30s in the afternoon as snow departs to the east and drier weather moves in. Dry weather will continue into early Thursday. A cold front moving through on Thursday will bring a chance of snow showers beginning Thursday afternoon, then much colder temperatures Friday through the weekend.
