Showers until Tuesday morning; Colder midweek

High temperatures today reached the middle 50s for most of Northeast Michigan. In the afternoon, skies became mostly cloudy, but winds generally out of the southwest helped bring seasonably warm temperatures to our area. In fact, some spots south of Alpena managed to climb above the 60 degree mark.

Showers from the southern Plains will move into our area. West of the track shown in yellow, this will stay mostly snow. Northeast Michigan will be on the eastern side of the track, so our temperatures will be warm enough for rain showers. Showers will come to an end around midday tomorrow, then dry weather will last until Wednesday afternoon.

Low temperatures tonight will cool to the lower 40s with rain showers moving in. Tomorrow will likely start with rain showers in the morning, then mostly cloudy skies in the afternoon. High temperatures will reach about 48 degrees with light winds from the northwest.

Rainfall amounts are looking very minor for our area, 0.1-0.2 inches of rain are expected tonight and tomorrow morning. The amount of moisture will be more substantial west of I-75.

Rain showers will taper around midday tomorrow. Wednesday will start with dry weather and cool temperatures, early-morning lows will be near 30 degrees. High temperatures will reach the middle 40s and dry weather is expected to continue Wednesday afternoon. A separate storm system coming in from the south will provide a chance of a rain/snow mix beginning Wednesday evening. Rain is likely on Thursday, followed by a changeover to snow Thursday night. Temperatures will drop below the freezing mark early Friday, and gradually improving conditions are expected with highs getting up to only 40 degrees.
