Showers Early Then Windy on Wednesday; Increasing Humidity This Weekend

Some areas away from Lake Huron reached 80 degrees this afternoon while communities at the shoreline experienced highs in the mid-70s, with a breeze out of the east at 10-15 mph throughout the day. Winds will shift out of the southwest tonight keeping temperatures warm.

Scattered showers will move in after midnight and linger through tomorrow morning with the additional risk of a thunderstorm. The incoming showers are caused by a cold front moving through the Upper Midwest. The showers will clearly rapidly midday, and winds will strengthen up to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph out of the northwest.

Tomorrow morning, temperatures will be in the mid-60s with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Sunshine will brighten the sky late in the day with a high of 73 degrees in Alpena. Clear skies will be overhead tomorrow evening through Thursday.

Humidity levels will drop off during the day tomorrow, and remain fairly dry through Thursday. One measure of humidity is the dew point which can easily be matched to levels of comfort. On Friday, the humidity levels should remain comfortable with dew point values in the 50s during the day. Over the weekend, it will feel more sticky compared to what we have seen recently with dew points near 70.

For tomorrow, more sunshine will develop in the afternoon, and sunny skies will last into Thursday. Highs will warm up to the upper 70s by Friday with increasing clouds. Over Father’s Day weekend, the increased humidity will fuel chances for on-and-off thunderstorms, and temperatures will warm into the 80s.
