Showers and Thunderstorm Risk Thursday; Cooler Friday

High temperatures today reached the low 90s across the Sunrise Side, it was a hot and mostly sunny Fourth of July. An incoming cold front will put an end to temperatures in the 90s.

A few isolated showers popped up west of Alpena during the afternoon. A cold front currently stretching from Minnesota to Nebraska will bring more widespread showers and thunderstorms tomorrow midday. Behind the cold front, early-morning low temperatures will cool into the 50s Friday and Saturday.

Tomorrow will start with warm temperatures in the mid-70s for the morning. By lunchtime, scattered showers and thunderstorms will enter the area as high temperatures warm into the upper 80s. By the mid-evening, temperatures will cool down to the lower 70s with mostly clear skies.

Thursday will be another warm day despite the scattered showers and thunderstorms. After the cold front passing through Thursday, high temperatures on Friday will be about 10 degrees cooler than Thursday. Over the weekend, temperatures will once again rebound into the 80s with dry weather.

For tomorrow, a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms will begin in the late morning and last through the afternoon. High temperatures will warm into the upper 80s in the early-afternoon, before a cold front passes through Northeast Michigan. Low temperatures early Friday will cool down to the 50s, then sunny skies will shine in the afternoon with a high in the upper 70s. Saturday will be sunny with early-morning lows in the lower 50s, then temperatures will rise to the lower 80s in the afternoon. Partly cloudy skies are expected on Sunday with high temperatures in the upper 80s.
