Senior Living: addressing what happens next after a procedure or hospitalization

(Photo Courtesy/CBS Newspath) Administrator George Sobeck will present to seniors about what happens next after hospitalization or procedures.

Alpena, Mich. — Recovery options for seniors can be confusing, feel pressured, and are sometimes misguided.

That’s why Medilodge of Alpena administrator George Sobeck wants to shed light on different paths to help seniors make the best possible decision.

“They may not always get the full picture of what the options are, and I want them to be in control of that,” said Sobeck.

Sobeck has been working in health care his whole career. He want’s seniors to have a better understanding when answering the “what’s next?” question.

“I want them to understand a little bit about medicare, managed care, and with medicare there is a 30 day window,” said Sobeck. “I want them to know about if they do have an outpatient procedure, there are options that are affordable for them, and also, when they are hospitalized after a situation, they may not know what the actual outcome will be.”

That outcome requires an informed decision that often has to be made quickly.

“I know from personal experience being involved in this, that there is misguided information,” said Sobeck. “People aren’t getting the whole picture, and it is costing people money.”

Sobeck will be hosting a presentation on making decisions on May 23rd at 5:30 p.m. Folks 50 and up are encourage to attend. For more information, contact the Alpena Senior Citizens Center or visit their website www.alpenaseniors.com
