Senate passes relief bill
WASHINGTON, D.C.– The Senate passed the $1.9 trillion dollar plan on Saturday.
The bill passed with 5o in favor and 49 opposed after a 27-hour debate. The most notable amendment to the bill was a reduction of weekly unemployment benefits from $400 to $300 per week. A vote on amending the bill to mandate a $15 per hour federal minimum wage failed Friday morning.
The bill will head to the House of Representatives, who hope to have it on President Biden’s desk by the time unemployment benefits expire on March 14.
