Second chance for pets
ALPENA, Mich. — People are not the only ones who need second chances. Animals do too and one local non-profit organization is making sure they get that.
Second Chance Animal Shelter began as an idea a couple of years ago but through donations they have reached the midway point of construction.
Treasurer Leanne Bloom said it’s great to see what was once an idea turning into a reality.
The shelter is community funded and one of the ways they raise money is through can and bottle drives. Bloom said they plan to have an onsite store to help with additional fundraising. She said the proceeds will go toward the shelter and medical care for the animals.
They expect to open in the fall.
