ALPENA, Mich. — Earlier this week, the current management group Northern Lights Arena-Community has announced that they will be stepping away from its current lease. Now the search begins for the Alpena County Board of Commissioners as they’re now taking proposals to run the rink.
One of those proposals will be coming from Jeremy Winterstein and Dave Guzman. Winterstein and Guzman are the current arena managers at Northern Lights Arena. Both managers will propose to form a Limited Liability Company, once the county starts requesting bids. Guzman believes they have the experience to keep running the arena.
“Ever since COVID-19 has started we’ve been running the rink,” said Guzman. “Currently, we’re holding our own. We’re staying current on all of our bills and we are running the rink as best as possible.”
