Scramble for Scholarships continues as usual
ALPENA, Mich.– The Alpena Community College Foundation hosted their annual competition Saturday.
108 golfers from all over town came to the River’s Edge Golf Club today to have fun and support the students of Alpena Community college in the 25th annual Scramble for Scholarships. The main competition was a four–player, best–ball scramble, supplemented with hole–in–one and putting contests.
According to A.C.C. Foundation Executive Director Brenda Herman, the event raises funds through admission prices, hole and golf cart sponsorships, raffle tickets, and donations. The event has raised over $400,000 since its inception, thanks to community enthusiasm and support.
“My favorite part’s always coming out for the… the scholarships that we’re coming out for.” Said attendee Robert Barrigar, “It’s all about the donations that we’re doing today, getting the group of Alpena together for a good cause.”
