Save money when shopping downtown with the Alpena DDA’s new program
ALPENA, Mich. — The Alpena Downtown Development Authority is launching a new promotion. It’s called the Downtown Dollars Program and is meant to bring more business to Alpena’s downtown area. This is done with multi–merchant gift certificates that can be used at over 30 downtown businesses.
Residents can buy 25 downtown dollars and get $5 bonus. For $50, they’ll receive an extra $15, and purchasing $75 will get them and extra $25.
Executive Director of the DDA Anne Gentry says this program is a benefit to both business owners and customers. “It’s something that really came out when our board was talking about different COVID relief efforts to help our businesses out through these times,” she said. “This was something that came up that we’ve seen other communities do to benefit customers but to encourage them to come downtown.”
Gentry added, depending on how the program is received by the public, they will consider doing it again.
Downtown dollars available at Bolenz Jewelry or the Alpena Chamber of Commerce office. They are also available at the DDA building, but they will only accept cash or check. These certificates expire five years from now. For the full list of Alpena businesses, click here.
