Salvation Army Holding a Coat Drive Tuesday

With cold temperatures headed our way, the Salvation Army will be holding a coat drive for people in need this winter.

The Salvation Army will be giving away free coats, hats, scarfs, and gloves this Tuesday, October 18th.

Families in need will be able to choose from all sizes ranging from newborn to adults.

Caption, Amy Cedervall said the coat drive is a great way for the community to give to families who can’t afford winter items this season.

“It’s great for the community to be able to give back.

We all have…many of us have coats that are sitting in our closet that we haven’t worn for years.

They can do a lot more good here to give out to somebody who is struggling to provide that for their families. It’s just that opportunity to be able to give back. We want to make sure that we are showing people that we care,” Cedervall said.

Winters can be very brutal in northeast Michigan.

If you are in need, the coat drive will be this Tuesday, October 18 from 10 am until 4 pm.

The Salvation Army is located at 722 North Second Avenue in Alpena.
