Roundball Roundup: Owls take care of business on senior night

OSCODA, Mich. — Another strong performance from the Oscoda Owls boys basketball team. On parents and senior night, the Owls took care of business on their home court, beating Hillman 78-32. At the end of the first quarter, Oscoda was only leading 17-12. However, they managed to pull way to remain unbeaten.

Owen Franklin led the Owls in scoring with 25 points. Gabe Kellstrom added 19 points and Brayden Mallak finished with 16 points. Five seniors (Mallak, Kellstrom, Austin Schlink, Devin Thomas, and Itsuto Mantani) played their final home game and finished it on a good note.

“It feels amazing,” said Thomas. “I was really looking forward to this night. We came out with a big win and I’m happy I did it with my brothers.”

Issac Morrison led Hillman in the scoring department with 20 points along with nine rebounds.

The Owls (16-0) are just four wins away from completing a perfect regular season for the second consecutive season. They return to action on Friday for a meeting with Hale (14-2). Meanwhile, Hillman (5-10) will look to bounce back on Friday as they host Rogers City (10-7).
