Rogers City selected for Michigan Mainstreet program

ROGERS CITY, Mich. — One Northeast Michigan city has been selected for a downtown revitalization project.

The Michigan Economic Development Corporation announced on Thursday that Rogers City is one of three communities selected for this year’s “Michigan Main Street” program.

Alongside Adrian and Coldwater, Rogers City will receive guidance, resources, and money from the MEDC. Their goal? Bringing fresh life and business into downtown.

Mayor Scott McLennan told WBKB he was beyond excited when he received the call earlier this week.

“It was extremely difficult to keep my lips sealed. Because everyone engaged in wanting this for our community. So, we couldn’t be happier, and I, personally, couldn’t be more proud of our community members.”

Mayor McLennan’s pride is well–placed. The MEDC said they ultimately selected Rogers City because of “overwhelming support” from the community and businesses.

McLennan says MEDC representatives will arrive and begin their work in just about a month.

Congratulations, Rogers City!
