Rogers City officials meet for workshop

ROGERS CITY, Mich. – Rogers city leaders met Tuesday evening for a combined discussion.

Roger City Council, its planning commission and downtown development authority met over zoom.

City Manager Joe Hefele said a special certification requires that a joint meeting of the groups be conducted at least annually.

Up for discussion was the city’s effort to participate in the Michigan Main Street Program. Mayor Scott McLennan invited a few officials from Boyne City to the workshop (the original Michigan Main Street Community) to speak to the impact that program has had on their economy.

Last week Rogers City became the 50th community in the State to become certified in the Michigan Economic Development Corporation’s Redevelopment Ready Communities (RRC) program.

No action was taken during Tuesday’s it is purely an informational workshop.
