Rogers City Hurons hang on for close victory over Whittemore-Prescott
Alcona, Mich. — The Rogers City Hurons faced the Whittemore-Prescott Cardinals for the first round of Division 3 – District 69 playoffs. Rogers City defeated Whittemore-Prescott in both regular season games, but the Cardinals got off to a hot start taking a 9-2 lead in the first quarter thanks to Dana Thorson. A Rogers City bucket by Kaleb Budnick tied this one up at 12-all at the end of the first.
Whittemore-Prescott entered halftime with the 29-27 lead after three players totaled four 3-pointers in the second quarter. Rogers City’s Luke Tulgetske woke up in the second half scoring all of his eleven points. The Hurons made 9-12 free throws in the fourth and defeated the Cardinals 62-55. Up next, the Hurons face Johannesburg-Lewiston on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Alcona for the District Semifinal.
