Rogers City Area Schools get new superintendent

Rogers City Areas Schools hires Nicholas Hein as its newest superintendent. He said there’s a handful of items on his list he wants to tackle to move the school district within his first 100 days.

One of the first items on his list is adding more elective courses for students. Hein said giving students an hour of the day to take a course that piques their interest is invaluable because it helps them discover their niche in life.

“With everything in my heart,” Hein said, “if you want to see kids succeed or students succeeed, you have to put them in a position to succeed. A lot of times, that means finding that niche for them.”

And once that student finds their niche, Hein said they’ll build self-esteem and pride within themselves.

“Individualizes classes, where people have that option to learn is what I’m to try to incorporate.”

Hein also said he wants to reorganize the administration and faculty more by setting clear and defined expectations.
