ALPENA, Mich— As the first day of school is approaching and students are gearing up for the fall semester the Salvation Army continues to help prepare students for success. Each year the Salvation Army provides backpacks through their Stuff the Bus campaign to assist local students in need of school items.
Starting Friday, residents can drop off school supplies at the Alpena Walmart on M–32 at the front entrance of the store. Drop off collection will continue through Sunday afternoon. Residents are encouraged to donate three ring binders, notebooks, scissors and glue bottles.
The Salvation Army will distribute donated items on August 20th.
