Relay for Life summer event is canceled
ALPENA, Mich.— Relay for Life of Northeast Michigan’s summer event has officially been canceled, but annual attendees will still have a chance to give back for a good cause. Relay for Life is largely known for supporting those affected by cancer and helps to provide research.
This year, Relay for Life of Northeast Michigan cancelled their summer event due to health safety concerns surrounding COVID–19. However, residents can still attend the Luminaria and Survivor Rcognition event next month.
The fundraiser will be a drive by style featuring a guest speaker, a slide show presentation and a Luminaria ceremony. Relay for Life Lead Annie Hepburn said, “Despite various changes this year; she still wants to keep the relay alive.”
Donations will be accepted at the event and online. The fundraiser will take place Saturday, October 3 from 7:30 to 9pm at the Alpena Mall.
