After 2 months of avoiding a popular salad item, the CDC says it is finally safe to start consuming romaine lettuce again. The recall on the lettuce has finally been lifted since it went into effect back in the fall. Multiple cases of illness were reported by consumers across 16 states, including 7 cases in Michigan. The CDC says the contaminated lettuce should no longer be on shelves.
The FDA and CDC plan to continue their investigation into the origin of the contamination in order to prevent future outbreaks.
