Quick round of showers tonight; Soaking rain late Tuesday-Wednesday

Northeast Michigan has a quick round of showers moving through this evening. Some patchy fog will be possible overnight to early Tuesday. The daytime hours will be dry on Tuesday, then a storm system currently over the Upper Plains will move in. That will give soaking rainfall Tuesday night, Wednesday and even more showers on Thursday.

Temperatures today were largely dependent on wind direction and proximity to Lake Huron. Winds were coming out of the east at 10-15 mph. Highs were mainly in the 50s at the shoreline, 52 degrees in Alpena and 57 degrees in Oscoda. Areas farther away from the shoreline had highs in the 60s, 62 degrees in Mio and West Branch.

Low temperatures overnight will cool to the upper 30s. Early Tuesday, patchy fog could develop and temperatures will be in the lower 40s. Afternoon highs will get to about 54 degrees with mostly cloudy skies. The chance of showers will increase in the evening and temperatures will be in the middle 40s.

The forecast rainfall map below shows total rainfall amounts including Monday evening’s showers and the soaking rain on the way Tuesday night through Wednesday night.
