Project Blue Light Gearing Up For 18th Year in Alpena

For Project Blue Light’s 18th annual event, Michigan State Police Alpena Post, and local firefighters will be honoring the lives of law enforcement and fire officials who have been lost in duty.

All who serve in such positions across the state will be recognized and thanked for their commitment to keeping their communities safe.

Hoping for another great turnout, Lt. Grimshaw said that the support from the community is always there for the men and women who serve in uniform.

“This year I kind of want it to be a little different. I want it to be a celebration about their life. This needs to be an opportunity for us to look at what they’ve done and of course we know it’s sad that they are gone, but we need to remember all of the good things that they’ve done and make this a celebration instead of a sad moment that it always seems to be,” Lt. Grimshaw said.

Losing her own son, in 1994, Gloria Egelski said there will be some new presentations during Project Blue Light this year. Project Blue Light will be held Tuesday, December 5th at the Aplex at 7 pm.
