The APlex was packed tonight as the 17th Annual Project Blue Light event took place.
The hour–long ceremony provided those in attendance the chance to remember and honor law enforcement officers and fire fighters who have laid down their lives in the line of duty.
There were multiple speakers throughout the night including Alpena County Sheriff Steve Kieliszewski, and special guest speaker Robert Stevenson, who serves as the Executive Director for the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police.
Lieutenant Eric Hamp from the Alpena Police Department read the names of all Michigan officers and fire fighters who died while in the line of duty this year.
According to organizers the turnout tonight was even larger than last year, and they hope to continue growing into the future.
