Plaza Pool reopens swimming lessons

ALPENA, Mich.– Swimming lessons return to the Alpena Plaza Pool this week.

COVID–19 restrictions closed swimming lessons in March and November prematurely.

With restrictions lifting, the pool has resumed lessons on the first Wednesday of the month.

Plaza Pool director Krista Morrow said people whose lessons were canceled will get a credit towards new sessions.

“Anyone who was in the March lessons or November do get a $25 credit if they were in the levels. If they were in the infant/toddler [levels], they do have a $10 credit coming.”

Morrow said the pool will enforce safety measures. Everyone who isn’t swimming must wear a mask. If swimmers maintain six feet between them, they should be fairly safe. The CDC says a well–chlorinated swimming pool renders the coronavirus inactive.
