Petoskey tops Alpena for the lead in the Big North Conference
Petoskey defeats Alpena for top spot in the BNC.
Petoskey, Mich. — The Petoskey Northmen hosted the Alpena Wildcats for a Big North Conference showdown. The winner would take the top spot in the league. This one was a back-and-forth battle the entire game, but it came down to free throws. Petoskey made 21 of 26 from the charity strike, while Alpena made 7 of 18.
The Northmen defeated the Wildcats 64-52 improving to (15-4) overall and (7-2) in conference play. Chris DeRocher put up 21 points. Up next, Alpena faces Traverse City Central at home on Friday. The Wildcats lost to the Trojans earlier in the season 58-53.
