People flock to Art on the Bay

ALPENA, Mich. — The Thunder Bay Arts Society is very pleased with the turnout at this year’s Art on the Bay.

Like many events, Art on the Bay took a hiatus in 2020 for social distancing. Thankfully, absence made Alpena’s heart grow fonder, at least based on the crowd size. Over 90 vendors had tents in bay view park, and about a third of them were newcomers.

People bought everything from rugs, to books, to roasted almonds.

Arts Council vice president Clint Kendziorski said he’s very happy with the turnout.

“[Saturday] we started at 10 — and by 10 o’clock the aisles were already packed. We normally, over the two-day period, have about 3,000 people and shoppers come through. And I would say so far we’re on par for at least 1,500.”

The show wrapped up on Sunday at 4 PM.
