Oscoda Wins MHSAA Districts Round 2 Game 6-0

OSCODA, MI – MHSAA Districts are still underway for high school soccer and in a second round matchup, the Oscoda Owls were in action at home. In a season which has only seen them lose two matches, they have been one of the squads to possibly go all the way in their district. Tonight they went head to head with Roscommon.

Starting in the first half, Michael Wrona tries for a shot but it’s blocked. Justin Travis then gets the rebound and takes a first touch shot and it just bends into the back of the net. The Owls are on the board first in this one.

Next up Jayden Conly recovers the Roscommon clearance and has some space to take a shot from way out. He fires it right over the keepers head and grabs the goal for the Owls. At halftime Oscoda leads 2-0.

Second half and Michael Wrona with the ball again and Wrona displays great ball control. Multiple defenders challenge him for the ball but Wrona keeps possession. He then takes a great shot right in the back of the net. He gets his first goal of the match and it’s now 3-0 Owls.

Now a free kick opportunity for the Owls. The ball is sent over to the box and Andrew Benton just gets a foot on the ball. He grabs his first goal of the match and celebrates as Oscoda just runs away with this game.

Not even a minute later after that last goal, Oscoda would be on the attack again. Michael Wrona once again holding his own against the Roscommon defenders. He takes a shot that just slips in the bottom left corner and gets his second goal of the match. The Owls are just a few minutes away before moving on to district finals.

The final goal of the match came from an Oscoda corner kick. A great header from Michael Wrona would finish off the match with a hat trick on the night.

Oscoda wins their round two matchup in Districts convincingly 6-0. They’ll be in action on Saturday in the district finals match.
