Oscoda Veteran’s Park welcomes Howitzer display

OSCODA, Mich. — The Veterans Memorial Park in Oscoda received another antique on Friday.

Crews offloaded an M115 howitzer to its display position Friday morning.

Joe Brinn, head of the local VFW, said the artillery cannon was used in World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam. It joins two troop transport vehicles that arrived at the park in September.

Brinn told WBKB there’s at least one more vehicle coming before the end of the year.

“We’ll actually have a fourth vehicle on display. It’s going to be here next week. It’s a five-ton wrecker used in late Vietnam.”

If you want to see these pieces of military history for yourself, the park will host a dedication ceremony next Saturday, October 9.
