Oscoda takes Big Dipper lead in win over Alcona
ALCONA, MI — The Alcona Tigers (5-1) girls basketball squad hosted the Oscoda Owls (6-0) Friday evenin, and the Owls looked to get revenge from the Tigers after losing the District final 38-32 in 2018.
The Owls got off to a hot 13-0 run to start the game thanks to Brooke Nowiski’s two 3-pointers. Oscoda made four 3’s in the first quarter to give the Owls an 18-2 lead.
A couple fast-break points, especially down low in the paint, put more points on the board for Alcona. The Tigers also tightened up their defense, but that couldn’t stop the fast-flying Owls in their 61-35 win over the Tigers. Oscoda remains undefeated, like their boys team, with a (7-0) overall record and (3-0) in the North Star League-Big Dipper.
