Online sports betting and casinos become legal in Michigan

LANSING, Mich. – If you have the itch to bet on a few upcoming sports games the legal way, online sports betting and casino games will start in Michigan at noon Friday.

It’s an expansion of options for gamblers who now wager through offshore sites.

Legalized online sports betting and online casinos are expected to bring in $650 million dollars in revenue to casinos around the state—leading to almost $100 million in tax revenue.

Statewide sports betting will be taxed at 8.4%, one of the lowest rates in the nation.
