NRA files for bankruptcy

NEW YORK, New  York– The National Rifle Association filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Texas on Friday, according to a report from CNN Business.

The group says it seeks to reincorporate in Texas as part of a plan they call “Project Freedom.” The group previously called New York home since its founding in 1871.

The move follows an adversarial relationship with the most recent New York Attorney General, Letitia James.

Most recently, James filed a lawsuit against the group’s leadership. The suit claims they violated New York’s nonprofit laws.

The NRA countersued, saying James was infringing on First Amendment rights.
