ALPENA, Mich. — Saturday marked the beginning of the annual Northern Strike.
Roughly 5,100 troops from across the country gathered in Northern Michigan for this massive military exercise.
For the next two weeks, they will conduct multiple types of exercises, across land, sea, and air.
The operations are meant to realistically simulate combat in a near–peer engagement.
The exercises take place across the national all–domain warfighting center, which includes the military centers in Alpena and Gaylord.
