Nobody hurt in Michigan Avenue fire

ALPENA, Mich. — A house on Michigan Avenue caught fire Tuesday evening.

The Alpena Township Fire Department got the call at roughly 6 PM and was quickly on the scene. The house was fully engulfed on when they arrived.

The good news is that nobody has lived at the address for months, so there weren’t any injuries or deaths.

Although one neighbor claims a lightning strike started the fire, Township Chief Mark Hansen said it’s too early to tell.

Aside from the house itself, the only other damage was heat–induced warping on the neighbors’ siding.
