New water lines replace contaminated water system in Oscoda

Oscoda – At least two years have passed since residents in areas of Oscoda were first told their well water is contaminated with PFAS.

PFAS stands for perfluoroalkyl and polyflouroakyl, a family of toxins that doesn’t break down in the environment. It is also known to cause cancer in humans.

Now officials are breaking ground to provide families with treated municipal water, a permanent fix that will help families affected by the contamination.
