New survey finds Michigan families do not have access to affordable child care, forced to make critical tradeoffs

LANSING, Mich. – A new survey finds many Michigan families are struggling to find affordable childcare.

The results revealed only one in six Michigan parents say child care is affordable.

Two–thirds of parents actually say child care is not at all affordable or only affordable with major tradeoffs in their budgets, like cutting back on food or health care.

Earlier this year, Governor Whitmer presented a budget proposal which would increase income eligibility requirements for child care assistance, helping 150,000 more Michigan families.
