NEW: “Handi-Capable” Day
Everyone loves going to the fair, but what if you were handicapped and had to deal with overwhelming crowds of people? It might not be as fun. A new event plans to change that.
Handi–Capable Day. It’s a day for handicapped community members to have a more accommodating and fun fair experience. In previous years at the Alpena County Fair, handicapped guests have been disadvantaged due to overwhelming crowds- making it difficult to have a good time.
“I thought it was such an awesome idea, It’s never been done in Alpena. There have been some handicapped kids and adults come through to try to ride rides but its always been difficult because of the crowds and maneuvering if they’re in wheel chairs and things like this,” said Darlene Alexander, Alpena County Fairgrounds Board member.
Thanks to this new event, those are all things that they will no longer have to worry about. Handi–Capable Day will be dedicated to making sure that guests have a fun and hassle free time.
The event will be free and open to handicapped guests only, along with their caregivers.
Handi–Capable day will be held on August 2nd, 10am-12pm..
