NAWIC hopes to prepare more women to work in the construction industry

ALPENA, Mich. —  The construction industry is one of the many industries impacted by the coronavirus. Despite the setback, construction jobs in Michigan are expected to grow 10.6 percent through 2026, or 16,430 additional openings, according to the Michigan Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives. The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Detroit Chapter hopes more women will be represented in that number.  In this week’s Insights, reporter Sheri Stuart speaks with two women – Paige Aubin, president of NAWIC and CEO of Paige Construction and Kathi Dobson, saftey director for Alberici Constructors.  Both women have years of experience in the construction industry and hope that other women will join them.

Insights airs Sunday at 11 a.m. on ABC and at 11:30 a.m. on CBS.
