National Volunteer Month Spotlight- Raymond Anderson

ALPENA, Mich. – April is National Volunteer Month.

Without people donating their time and passions to causes they care about, most non–profits and other organizations would suffer.

Volunteers like Ray Anderson over at MidMichigan Medical Center in Alpena are going above and beyond to help others.

After 40 years of working in manufacturing, Anderson felt inspired to volunteer.

He said there are many benefits to helping others.

“You see a lot of people you haven’t seen in years, but just helping people it’s an extension of what I’ve always done,” said Anderson. “Go ahead and do it, you’ll find it very rewarding, the hours are flexible, and there’s always a need.”

Ray has been a volunteer at MidMichigan since 2015.

Some of Anderson’s duties include, manning the volunteer desk in the surgical lounge, driving the courtesy van and assisting with covid vaccinations.
