Most Common Calls Alpena Fire Department Receives During the Holidays
Alpena- Christmas is right around the corner so most folks will have the opportunity to enjoy some down time with friends and family. But that’s not the case for the Alpena Fire Department who will be on call ready to respond to emergencies.
WBKB spoke with Fire Chief Bill Forbush about some of the common calls they receive on Christmas and a few tips to staying safe for the holidays. Christmas tree fires are one of the biggest accidents they see. Folks should make sure they water their tree regularly. Another common call the department receives are deep fried turkey fires. Shoveling and snowplowing injuries are also a common a occurrence. Resident should plan on taking it easy, be aware of their surroundings, and don’t forget those candles.
