ALPENA, Mich. — The Martin Luther King, Jr., Committee of Alpena has introduced a video contest to recognize Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., his work, and the national holiday and service in honor of his ideals. This contest is open to youth up to and including age 18 in Alcona, Alpena, Montmorency and Presque Isle counties.  The deadline for submission is 5 p.m. on February 15. Prizes include an Amazon tablet, an Amazon Echo Dot and an Amazon gift card.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for area youth to explore their creative side while also learning more about the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,” said Committee member Pastor Tom Orth.  “Dr. King left an extraordinary footprint on our nation’s history.  We believe it’s important that youth have more opportunities to learn about the change agents in our society,” he said.

All entries must be a digital video MP4 format.  Each entry must focus on the response one, pre-assigned video challenge.  Students may work together in groups or submit entries as individuals.  The length of the vide should not exceed three minutes.
