MLK Committee of Alpena announces virtual film discussion
ALPENA, Mich. — The Martin Luther King, Jr., Committee of Alpena invites you to participate in their monthly book and film discussion series. The next one takes place Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 6:30 p.m. Pastor Tom Orth of Grace Lutheran Church is the discussion leader. Pastor Orth said he hopes to facilitate a lively discussion answering questions pertaining to part on of the film, Race: The Power of an Illusion.
“This gets to the idea of how we’ve created race and whether it has a biological basis or not,” said Pastor Orth. “Race in the modern world is really what they call a social construct,” Pastor Orth explained.
